LIGHTS ALL NIGHT 2024

FESTIVAL OVerview:

Lights All Night is at the Dallas Market Hall in Dallas, Texas on December 30-31, 2023. The 2023 edition of the popular Texas New Year's festival featured a slew of electronic music heavyweights. Skrillex, Subtronics, Barely Alive, Sullivan King, DIESEL, Chris Lake, J. Worry and peekaboo all teared up the Dallas Market Hall this year.

FESTIVAL REPORT CARD:

MUSIC: A-

Now, don't get us wrong; the music was phenomenal, and if you were a bass head at this festival, you most definitely found yourself in sonic bliss. However, we wished for a touch more diversity in the lineup. Despite featuring notable house headliners like Chris Lake and Acraze, the weekend leaned heavily towards wubz and dubs. Nevertheless, the lineup surpassed our expectations, especially on the Metroplex MainStage, with a series of outstanding sets on both nights.

VIBES: B+

Friday was insane; the vibes were immaculate, and everyone was having the time of their life. People traded Kandi, gave out trinkets and sprouts, hung around the art installations, and truly embodied PLUR. The crowds were reasonably spaced, and everyone was in high spirits. While Saturday was still an amazing experience, we did notice more crowd pushing and a little less PLUR in interactions between festival-goers. We believe this could have been due to the fact that it was New Year's Eve in such a big city, and there were many more attendees on Saturday. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was vibrant, and the crowd exuded mostly friendly vibes.

VENUE: A+

The venue, Dallas Market Hall, was almost perfect for this festival. It provided ample space with two main stages inside, allowing for a perfect balance. Along the hall, there were entertaining shops, numerous bars, and art installations. Our number one favorite aspect of the venue was its indoor/outdoor setting with all doors open, maintaining a perfect temperature in the two main halls. However, accessing restrooms, getting food, or enjoying the other two smaller stages after sundown proved to be incredibly chilly since they were all outside. The lines to enter the festival, bars, food vendors, restrooms, and shops were remarkably speedy. Although there was limited seating inside, the venue's spacious layout accommodated many people sitting on the floors.

PRODUCTION: A-

The production at Dallas Market Hall exceeded our expectations. The Metroplex and Disco Rodeo stages both had phenomenal lighting, and large screens, providing an immersive experience. The main Metroplex Stage, in particular, was adorned with an abundance of lasers, creating a stunning visual spectacle that captivated the audience from the rail to the back of the hall. The outdoor Lone star stage featured multiple screens and a tent, contributing to a more intimate atmosphere for the outdoor performances. Our only complaint was the stage sets were nothing special. Overall production design at Lights All Night 2023 definately elevated the festival experience, making it a memorable and visually striking event.
