SUBTRONICS

Let's dive into the world of Father Jesse, better known as Subtronics, a dubstep DJ and Producer hailing from Philadelphia. You probably first encountered his electrifying sound through tracks like "Gassed Up," "Scream Saver," "Griztronics," and "Into Pieces." With a unique blend of heavy dubstep beats and intricate sound design, Subtronics crafts a musical journey that seamlessly merges intense bass drops with experimental elements, showcasing a distinctive fusion of creativity.

However, Subtronics isn't just about the music; he's a character on stage. Jesse brings an incredible stage presence, entertaining the audience with memes and teasing us with drops. We had the privilege of witnessing Subtronics at two festivals in 2023—Lights All Night and EDC Orlando—where the crowd, filled with enthusiastic fans and many Wooks, never ceased their headbanging frenzy. The drops in his set are mind-blowing, prompting some of us to take a breather just to absorb the sheer intensity. I'm nearly certain that my heartbeat synchronized with the BPM of the songs during Jesse's sets, as they effortlessly immerse you in a unified vortex of body, mind, music, and atmosphere. Subtronics' performances are undoubtedly not tailored for the faint-hearted house-head enthusiasts.

We cannot discuss Subtronics without discussing his love and appreciation for his fans and let me tell you, when you see him live you truly do feel it. In the closing moments of his sets, he doesn't just bid farewell to the audience; instead, he has a unique way of connecting with his fans, expressing gratitude for their support and emphasizing the shared experience of the music. Of course, Jesse is always looking out for his fans and the well-being of each and every person there. At Lights All Night 2023, he closed his set with these words: "Please, very soon, drink some water, eat some food, tell your loved ones and your friends how much you love them and how much they mean to you. Also, I am f***ing begging you, be nice to each other, please. Lastly and most importantly, if you are remotely f***ed up, call an Uber or get a sober friend to take you home safely." Jesse has the biggest heart and the kindest soul, and it is so evident when he steps onto that stage and connects with his fans.

Finally, Subtronics and Rezz recently dropped the track "Black Ice," a collaboration that took me by surprise with its perfect synergy. Shrouded in mystery and allure, the production slowly unveils a double-time rhythm, intricately laced with gritty distortion and playfully meandering synths. These two artists effortlessly meld their styles, venturing into new electronic musical territories. Give it a listen.
