SKRILLEX
Skrillix, an influential artist, producer, and DJ, was born on January 15, 1988, in Los Angeles, California. He rose to prominence in the late 2000s and has since become a leading figure in the global EDM scene. Before his EDM career, Skrillex was the lead vocalist for the post-hardcore band “From First to Last.” He left the band in 2007 to pursue his solo career in electronic music. Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of genres, he fuses elements of dubstep, electro house, and other electronic subgenres to create a unique and pioneering sound.
Skrillex is often credited with popularizing dubstep in the mainstream music scene. His early tracks, notably "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" and "Bangarang," showcased a unique blend of heavy basslines, intricate sound design, and aggressive drops that became synonymous with the genre.
His contributions and success in electronic music have been recognized with multiple Grammy Awards, including wins in the Best Dance Recording category for his iconic tracks. This past year, he was named one of EDM.coms Best Electronic Music Producers of 2023 and Beatport’s Top-Selling Artist of 2023.
